If it doesnt have a B&W illustration of a goat doing something blasphemous under and illegible logo as an album cover it probably wont get much respect here.
I've never really listened to the Stooges, although my friend always bugs me to and I like what I have heard. |

First off, I would like to say that I find it amusing that the majority of this board seems to listen to every Blasphemy/Beherit clone on the face of the planet, yet this stalwart of a band/album has been labeled "generic and bland" Hahaha...awesome.
Anyways.....Uhhh...Generic and bland? No, not at all really. It actually still sounds amazingly fresh to this day, mainly because no band has ever SUCCESSFULLY emulated the sound of this album. It's one thing to not like something, but to label something of such brilliance as "generic and bland" is just fucking wrong, in my opinion. Sure punk and metal would both continue to reach new extremes over the next couple of decades, but that doesn't mean the albums that provided the spark for the entire movement lose their relevance. Do you consider NWOBHM and Thrash metal "generic and bland" because death and black metal pushed the genre to new creative peaks?

I'm not trying to be a jerk. I'm just a big confused. You can ban me if you'd like, although I hope you don't, because I do really enjoy this board for the most part. |

I won't ban you. I wouldn't ban someone for something like speaking their mind...but I will give you a piece of my mind, and I don't care if you think I'm a jerk or not.
1. I don't listen to beherit, very rarely will I listen to a release.
2. The same goes fro Blasphemy.
3. I hate 98% of death and black metal
4. I haven't listened to thrash in years.
5. Not a fan of NWOBHM either.
6. grindcore is my favorite genre of music.
7. I'm firmly planted in hardcore.
8. metal punk is really the most ongoing growing genre.
9. I hate most of the posts on this board.
Now that we have that out of the way....
You shouldn't assume things about people. I'm sick of people that put shit like the stooges, the ramones, the sex pistols, MC5, the germs, etc etc as great bands with great albums. This shit is bland, boring, and generic compared to lets say the Japanese punk and hardcore scene. ANY Japanese band has more energy, spirit, and better musicianship than this shit. Besides it's bands like this that attract fuckheads to something as awesome as the underground. There is NOTHING good about the stooges. Just stupid drug induced rock and roll. Big fucking deal. Anyone could have come up with this sloppy boring garbage. No one wants to emulate this crap because it sucks so much fucking dick it's incredible. I'm so fucking glad that I was introduced to punk through better bands than the stooges. I'm deeply offended that this was even posted in the metal-punx part of the forum. It shouldn't be scummed up with crap like this. Fuck you Iggy Pop.

Your an idiot. The Stooges existed before your fav genres of music existed. They were making music that sounded like nothing that came before it that laid the foundation for what became modern hardcore punk. And there are bands that came before The Stooges that influenced them that sounded like nothing that came before them. It's people like you that only have a limited and finite grasp on music that annoy the hell out of me. As if punk and grindcore didn't take influence from bands that existed clearly before you were probably born. And I am glad to see that your true colors came out in your rebuttal to HellHammer. It's clear you loathe that this forum is about other forms of music that you clearly hate. Since this is your forum, why don't you just 86 the death metal, thrash and black metal sections and just leave this forum to your like minded butt buddies? IMO, you have some serious issues about control and it is probably prevalent in your personal life. Why have a forum with many different view points if all you ever are going to do is belittle and criticize other peoples posts or personal tastes? Yes, it is your forum, and you can do what you want but you just come off time after time as such an arrogant jerk. I for one am getting tired of seeing an good discussion thread ruined by your hostility. End rant here...

REALLY? That is why they all sound the same? I have no delusions about war metal and bestial black metal sounding the same but please don't try to make the movement out to be something really innovating that everyone should pay attention too. |
